Tech Talk Thursday #12-Spiritual Health

Hope everyone had a great New Years and is looking forward to a wonderful 2010!

I know this is a tech article but a lot of times technology kind of covers more than just one area of our lives. This weeks reviews of applications kind of goes along with last weeks apps but this time we are going to talk about the spiritual part of our lives. I realize that some that may read this post won’t like it but I’m going to write it anyway because it is my blog and I’m sorry if I offend anyone but this is the real me.

Bible

This is my favorite Bible app for the iPhone. It has seen several updates since I started using it over a year ago. The latest update has been the best since it now has different plans to help guide you to read the Bible through in a year. You can sign up for an account from the app or go here and sign up. You must go to the web site on your computer to customize the plan that you choose. I chose the Life Journal Reading plan because it will allow me to read the Old Testament once and the New Testament twice this year.

The app also has lots of different translations of the Bible too. Some you can download and some you must be connected to the Internet to read (copyright restrictions). You can also search the text for words or phrases. Under the settings you can set the font size. A simple app but a great app to have in order to carry the Bible around in your pocket.

This app is FREE!

PrayerJournal

I was lucky and caught this app for free but the current price is 99 cents. Basically, it is an app that you can record the names of people that you want to pray for. There is also an area that you can put their need and after the prayer has been answered then you can mark it that way and keep them until you delete them.

The dev of this app realized too that you might not want to share who or what you are praying for so you can turn on password protection in the settings.

The app has lots of options to help you in remembering who to pray for and will even select a person at random for you or you can pray for the who list. It’s all up to you. Great app even for 99 cents.

Be sure to check out Rob Williams’ new blog post Balanced Life Weekly. He has three areas of his life that he wants to improve this year and this is his first weekly post.

That’s going to do it for this weeks edition. Will see you back here next week.
